Elvish Necklace II
This necklace was a custom creation for someone who loved the original Elvish necklace design but wanted something that incorporated ametrine stones and would complement a select few wardrobe pieces. I was happy to oblige.
My chosen color scheme for this version of the necklace was based around the large ametrine stones. Ametrine is a quartz variety that occurs naturally and is a hybrid of amethyst and citrine. Depending on the angle of light, the clear stones appear to contain both violet and amber hues due to the different states of oxidation as the crystal was formed.
Over 1000 beads strung on nylon coated flexible beading wire make up this necklace – from Japanese seed beads and glass tubes in amber, black, gold, green, “oil slick” and violet, to fire-polished beads in jet and blue iris. There are celestial black AB (which stands for Aurora Borealis finish), frosted lavender, and topaz glass beads, and my favorite beads of all of them – the Czech pressed glass evergreen leaves. There are even a few genuine onyx chips among the rest.
The necklace is about 21½ inches from clasp to clasp, with a drop of about 19 inches, which includes the stunning 8½ inch tasseled pendant. The clasp is goldtone base metal and the strands are topped near the clasp with two large goldtone base metal round beads.
If you like the basic style but would prefer a different color scheme…I can do that, too (and I have – feel free to browse, you will see them). You can e-mail me at darkmountaintreasures@gmail.com, or you can Convo me on Etsy and we can go from there.
